Inspired by Randal Ford's striking "Black" photo series, where the elegance of black animals is captured against dark backdrops, I began to wonder what it might look like to photograph animals that are synonymous with colour, but make them black instead, and then place them against a dark backdrop? The outcome was nothing short of mesmerising.

These photorealistic images, adorned with unexpected splashes of colour — thanks to the AI's "hallucinations", despite my specific request for pure black subjects — were a testament to the power of the MidJourney platform. Navigating through a few hiccups, like when MJ mistook my desire for black creatures as a request for black-and-white photography, the final artworks accurately reflected my vision: “colourful” animals, now black, photographed against darkened backdrops.
